Just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse, Donald Trump went ahead and announced a laundry list of insane and unconstitutional plans for America in his second term.
I think I'm on my way to Canada. I'm 79 living on Social Security and Medicaid, which the orange ogre plans to get rid of. That, along with getting rid of the Affordable Care program will make it impossible for me to live. In other words, if I stay here under the ogre, I will literally die. I may be old, but that doesn't mean I'm useless and besides, only God can tell me when it's time to die.
The dangers of believing the government when they tell you they're going to do something, and they never actually do it. Social Security was supposed to be "a savings account". In those days we trusted our govt. b/c it was made up of sane thinking, caring individuals who really wanted to help the people of this country. You want to criticize me, maybe even blame me, but when you hit 79 and all your savings is gone and your spouse is deceased, and you're looking for Social Security to keep you afloat, come back and we'll have another chat.
Not criticizing anyone. I feel for those who have only the government to look to, I wish it were different. SS is a ponzi scheme intended to buy votes and keep folks voting for big government; specifically Democrats. I'd say politicians weren't a whole lot different back then. I'm guessing most of them knew how this would play out. FDR was no dummy. Of course Johnson made the scam worse and we are where we are. I'm just retired. My folks didn't trust the government and beat savings into my head. Grateful. Blessings.
I was just to The Thinking Atheist podcast & a lady called in from Canada & she says that they are expecting the next election to be bad because this guy (sorry I couldn’t get the name but you can probably google it) that is like trump is extremely popular & looks like he’s headed to win.
My husband's family is quite well known in Canada and there are still many relatives who live there. As far as how I voted at 79, it was quite easy really, I picked up the pencil and I filled in the hole. I did that a few times and then I mailed my ballot in. If you're asking me who I voted for, that's not really any of your business. My age wasn't really a factor in whether or not I voted.
We’ve been “failed.” … #Jeff sure does have a way with words, don’t he! … Have we changed yet from the ruins of our past Indus Valley civilizations? Dash, I know words. Simple ones, complex ones, technical terms and poetry. But they all turn to dust when I try to describe what we're facing. It's like trying to explain a nightmare using only primary colors.
The situation towers over our vocabulary. Every attempt to capture its scale only emphasizes how far short we fall. Our most precise language reads like children's drawings next to this reality.
Each sentence I construct feels like building sandcastles at the edge of an abyss. The harder I try to articulate the depth of it, the more the words crumble. Our finest dictionaries, our most eloquent phrases - they're matchsticks against a mountain.
We've built civilizations on words. Created laws, love stories, manifestos. But here, at this precipice, language itself seems to bow its head in submission. Even our silence feels insufficient.
Sometimes silence says more than words ever could. Maybe that's where we are now - at the edge where language fails and only the void speaks back. All our careful eloquence dissolves into the dark, leaving us with nothing but the raw truth of our inadequacy.
The words don't fail because they're wrong. They fail because they're finite, and what we face knows no bounds.
Yet here I stand, as I always have. My marriage certificate sits in a fireproof bag next to my passport - not because I lack courage, but because I've learned that survival requires both defiance and preparation. Years in Southern California taught me that stability is an illusion, that safety demands readiness. The go bag by my door isn't surrender - it's wisdom earned in a world where rights can evaporate like morning dew.
You should have one too. Not because we plan to run, but because we plan to survive. Because sometimes holding your ground means knowing exactly when and how to shift it. This isn't paranoia - it's the clear-eyed pragmatism of those who've watched hard-won freedoms turn fragile overnight.
Nah he’s getting strung up w his mighty financiers from out of our country.. bought their citizenships … but know nothing of our Constitutional Devotion. Various folks are already getting muddied by their job titles… this will be a messy few years, but I’m certain we’ll weather this era growing wiser and stronger in our own understanding and devotion to our Constitution !
Did you expect anything less? He promised to do this and he's going to do much much worse. It's outlined in Project 2025 and that's only what has been published. I'm positive there is a secret agenda and he has alluded to it but then said that he better not talk about it. I believe he's going to try to change fundamental things about the country, including making himself president beyond this next 4 years. He's likely going to try to change that part of the Constitution. He may very well change the ability of all citizens to vote in every election, but for certain in a presidential election. He all but said it on the campaign trail. Take a look at the outlandish things he did say and then look at how he might accomplish it because I believe he will try to do all of it. That would include reversing citizenship that he has talked about. There is nothing that this person will not do for revenge and to keep himself in power. Nothing.
He will try for sure. But to add ammendments, at least at this point, does require approval of the states. I believe it is 2/3 of the states to add ammendments. That's a bigger hurdle to jump. I'm sure there are other ways to achieve his goals though.
- Trump made major gains with Gen Z in 2024, especially men.
- Obama’s ‘scandal-free’ tenure included Benghazi, turning Libya from a prosperous country to a failed state with open air slave markets, Fast & Furious arming of South American drug cartels, plane loads of dollars to Iran, a world-class drone assassination program, …, none of which seems particularly Constitutional.
Repeating propaganda/PSYOPS talking points constitutes neither wisdom nor insight.
Perhaps you slept through history, especially the parts about the Constitution. If so, do try and read through it for understanding. Unless you enjoy sounding like an ignorant gaslighting troll.
Dash, I've read some of your work and noted how I appreciate your thoughts. Listening to this one is the first time hearing your voice. Big smiles!
A slight aside, women in the military: Yes, of course women have the right and ability to successfully be front liners. But if I'm honest, I'd rather not see them fight. It's difficult to hold those contradictory thoughts/feelings, but they're here.
His job is to remind us all how fortunate we are that our Constitution is written everywhere. There are lawyers who will be following every move he makes.
Yeah, pretty funny to see people crying about the constitution when they’re defending the people who want to shred the first two amendments. Among other silly things. Substack has been full of hair-on-fire reactions lately and it’s better than watching a comedy. (Well, it’s still kind of sad.)

Sadly I’m also on social security & I’m a naturalized citizen so you know what that would mean for me!
I absolutely know what that will mean for you. I'm sorry Vivian, this isn't what any of us planned for. Maybe we could get in the same hovel?
The dangers of relying on government to do for you what you should do for yourself.

He will regret it To be sure
He sold his soul to the devils and now he has to pay them back. Keep your eyes on the Middle East.

And still he has not signed any transition documents- including the ethics part of the papers. All expired in September & October. All requisite.
Yep but he is above the law!

Help me understand why transition papers would expire before the election. For bonus points, please explain what transition papers are.
Can you believe His Wife is not moving back into the White House… 😏… she’s not going to be a calendar girl again for him.

Change parts of the Constitution? He's going to shred it!

Article V of the Constitution: ⅔ vote of the House of Representatives, ⅔ vote of the Senate, and ¾ of the states.
- The Constitution was effectively shredded in terms of money upon the creation of the Fed in 1913.
- The creation of the Dept of Ed by Jimmy Carter in 1979 had no basis in the Constitution; education is a state domain (10th Amendment).
- The ‘Patriot’ Act wasn’t exactly the most Constitution-friendly pieces of legislation.
- Obama is suspected to have purged many seniormost military officers, but did it stealthily: https://www.investors.com/politics/editorials/197-military-officers-purged-by-obama/
- Trump made major gains with Gen Z in 2024, especially men.

You got me laughing at the end of this which is a miracle because I am depressed as hell ! Keep these podcasts coming
By the way, it takes some real narcissistic nuts to pretend to speak gor an entire generation.

Delusional or just hatred?
