Trump In Bed With Paul Whelan's Captors
Trump's ties to Putin resurface in the wake of Russia's prisoner swap.
Donald J. Trump was President when Paul Whelan was detained by Russian authorities in 2018. Not once did Trump attempt to bring Whelan home. In fact, Trump colluded with Whelan’s captors in 2016 to propel himself to the presidency — a crime which he would be exonerated for thanks to Bill Barr’s memo instructing DOJ not bring charges against the former President; despite evidence of Russian collusion.
Not only did Trump abdicate his responsibility to protect overseas Americans — like Whelan — but in fact, it is likely Trump jeopardized the safety of United States’ agents across the globe.
