Trump Cracks Down Like A Dictator, Republicans Push Authoritarian Proposal
Donald makes disturbing new changes at the DOJ and FBI, while Republicans try to advance the most authoritarian agenda we've seen to date
Donald Trump is closing out the first week of his presidency by cracking down at the DOJ and FBI — in the most authoritarian way imaginable.
First, a Jan 6 investigation page gets wiped from the DOJ’s site
The Justice Department’s four-year old webpage on the US Capitol riot investigations — detailing the crimes and arrests — has now been deleted from the official government website.
Doing their very best to erase January 6th from the American consciousness.
Then
According to a CBS reporter, the FBI has pulled down its ‘wanted posters’ webpage for the fugitives who’ve eluded arrest for Jan 6.
Which means there are violent criminals out there who participated in the coup who — thanks to Trump’s DOJ — will never see their day in court.
A complete exoneration by the ringleader himself.
Lastly
Trump’s DOJ reportedly rescinded offers to “dozens” of recent law school graduates who had already been accepted into entry-level positions within the FBI and DOJ’s antitrust, civil rights, criminal, and national security divisions.
Which means
Not only is Trump’s team firing the top ranks of these agencies, but they’re clearing out the bottom ranks as well, ensuring that even the interns are MAGA loyalists.
In my view
This is the most severe crackdown on dissent we’ve seen thus far. Trump is overhauling America’s law enforcement agencies from the bottom up in a way that only an authoritarian government would.
Speaking of authoritarianism
If you thought scrubbing Jan 6 investigations, purging the DOJ, and removing FBI wanted posters was bad, the GOP's latest proposal just dropped — and it’s straight out of a dictator’s playbook:
