Stephen A. Smith Melts Down After Receiving 'Thumbs Down' Award From National Association Of Black Journalists

A damning award to receive for Smith, who didn't take it well

Stephen A. Smith received a ‘thumbs down’ award from the National Association of Black Journalists at their convention last night for his “pattern” of “disparaging public commentary directed at prominent Black women across politics, sports and media.”

Smith didn’t take it well.

In a crazed, Trumpian response to receiving this award, Smith threatened to go after NABJ and implied that they deserved the thumbs down award instead of him.

“This is the epitome of Christmas arriving early. The NABJ wants to call folks out, fine! You had your turn, now mine is coming. And make no mistake…..,I’m coming. Let’s see who REALLY deserves a Thumbs Down award when it comes to the Black Community, afterI say my peace! Remember NABJ, you asked for it. I’ve shut my mouth for years. Now y’all started something.”

Not an ounce of reflection as to why he may have received this award. Instead, Smith decided to use his platform to further disparage another group of Black women and men. The prominent journalists at NABJ. His own peers.

Smith recently came out and said he regrets voting for Kamala Harris in the 2024 election. Which, honestly, says everything it needs to say about him.
