RFK Jr Gets Grilled During Hearing, Trump Admin Goes Straight-Up Totalitarian
As Robert F. Kennedy Jr faces resistance during his HHS confirmation hearing from both sides of the aisle, Donald's Cabinet doubles down on revenge purges and authoritarianism
Trump’s former VP is coming out hard against the nomination of Robert F. Kennedy Jr — with little time to spare.
Pence uses Trump’s own past remarks to turn Senate Republicans against RFK Jr
In a late-night effort to block Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s bid as HHS Secretary, Mike Pence took to social media urging Senate Republicans to deny his confirmation.
In the video uploaded to his X account, Pence uses Trump’s own words about RFK Jr to make the case, quoting him verbatim: “He’s a radical left liberal…anti-military…anti-gun…anti-vet…makes the green new deal scammers look conservative by comparison…Don’t vote for RFK Jr.”
Side note: Yes, Trump really did say these things about RFK Jr — in 2024 —before RFK Jr went MAGA and started shilling for the convicted felon.
Then
To close out the video, Pence writes: “President Trump was right the first time…Senators, Vote No on RFK Jr.”
Let’s see if the man Trump tried to have hanged has any sway left over the cultish GOP. He didn’t have much to begin with. But all we need is one more Republican to join McConnell, Collins, and Murkowski — and RFK Jr.'s nomination is dead in the water.
The hearing is underway
Here’s a highlight from Oregon Senator Ron Wyden, who calls out RFK Jr for getting rich from spreading vaccine conspiracies, saying: “Mr Kennedy has embraced conspiracy theories, quacks, charlatans, especially when it comes to the safety and efficacy of vaccines. He has made it his life's work to sow doubt and to discourage parents from getting their kids lifesaving vaccines. It has been lucrative for him.”
If there is a lane for Dems to hit RFK Jr on, I’d say it’s this one. Support for vaccines is bipartisan, which makes it the most effective argument against his confirmation.
Meanwhile, the MAGA purge is also underway
Although Trump’s Cabinet isn’t even fully confirmed yet, those who have made it through are already out for blood — going after his opponents in ways that only happen under an authoritarian regime:
