As votes were being cast in the Senate to approve Montenegro’s bid to join NATO in 2017, the late Senator John McCain stared down Kentucky’s Senator, and told him: “If you object, you are now carrying out the desires and ambitions of Vladimir Putin…and I do not say that lightly.”
Immediately following McCain’s statement, Rand Paul would object to Montenegro’s NATO admittance. McCain then reclaimed the microphone, and declared: “The Senator from Kentucky is now working for Vladimir Putin.”
It seems McCain’s warning about Paul should have been taken more seriously.
