Justin Trudeau Teaches Trump Lesson On Tariffs, Cabinet Drama Erupts
As Canada's PM urges Donald not to follow through with his counterproductive tariffs, Donald takes a wrecking ball to America's institutions
Over the weekend, Canada’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, broke bread with Trump at Mar-a-Lago to explain how tariffs work and why imposing them would also harm America’s economy.
Here’s what Trudeau told reporters before his strategic dinner in West Palm Beach: “Donald Trump, when he makes statements like that [on tariffs], he plans on carrying them out. There’s no question about it…Our responsibility is to point out that in this way he would be actually not just be harming Canadians, who work so well with the United States; he’d actually be raising prices for American citizens as well and hurting American industry and businesses.”
The fact that Trudeau felt he had to explain the consequences of tariffs to Trump — shows you how incompetent and dangerously unfit Trump is perceived to be by foreign leaders.
By the way
Trump is only planning these tariffs to virtue-signal strength to his base, when in reality, these tariffs do nothing other than increase costs on consumer goods for his base.
Trudeau’s controversial visit
I know Trudeau received a lot of flack for this trip, but to be fair, he has to play the game — and play to Trump’s ego — if he wants to ensure Trump doesn’t do anything crazy like “liberate Canada” as Lauren Boebert once proposed.
Hopefully, Trudeau talked some sense into Trump about abandoning his inflationary 25% tariffs.
P.S.
Technically, Trump is barred from traveling to Canada as a convicted felon — yet another reason Trudeau had to visit Mar-a-Lago.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s administration 2.0 hasn’t even started yet, and it’s already a trainwreck
If you thought Trump’s first term was a circus, his second term is shaping up to be game-over for America as we know it:
