Harris Sees Strong Data, Trump Faces Uphill Battle In Closing Stretch
Kamala Harris leads in several polls while early-voting records are shattered, as Donald's prospects look grim with new developments in vital swing states
With commanding poll numbers, record-breaking early voter turnout, and Republicans making the case for her, Kamala Harris is looking more and more likely to make history in two short weeks.
Harris leads Trump in 2 major national polls
Morning Consult and Reuters/Ipsos released new polls this morning, both showing great results for Harris.
The data
Harris leads Trump 50% to 46% in the Morning Consult poll (+4), and 48% to 45% in the Reuters/Ipsos poll (+3).
For what polls are worth, she’s held a steady lead over Trump since entering the race. Her campaign is clearly resonating with voters.
GA breaks first-day early voting record
On the first day of early voting in Georgia, 252,000 ballots were cast, nearly doubling the previous record of 136,000 set in 2020.
Plus
With the latest announcement that Bruce Springsteen will headline a Harris-Obama rally this Thursday in Atlanta, expect those numbers to continue skyrocketing.
Side note: High early voter turnout is typically a positive indicator for Democrats, especially considering it’s the first election where abortion rights are at stake.
Speaking of abortion, Liz Cheney delivered a powerful message to pro-life voters in Wisconsin
In one of the most impactful campaign events yet, Harris and Cheney held a conversation moderated by Republicans, during which Cheney explained to pro-life conservatives why they should support Harris over Trump.
Here’s what Cheney said about abortion: "There are many of us around the country who have been pro-life, but who have watched what’s going on in our states since the Dobbs decision and have watched state legislatures put in place laws that are resulting in women not getting the care they need.”
Cheney also highlighted how Texas Republicans are suing to obtain women’s medical records, telling the crowd: “That’s not sustainable for us as a country, and it has to change.”
She framed the conversation around privacy and healthcare, rather than abortion, to give pro-life conservatives a permission structure to vote for Harris.
Then, Cheney gave GOP voters another compelling reason to unite behind Harris
Instead of convincing them on policy, Cheney urged Republican voters to make their choice one about character, principle, and morality — imploring them to vote against Trump: “We are going to reject cruelty. We’re going to reject the kind of vile vitriol we’ve seen from Donald Trump. We’re going to reject the kind of misogyny we have seen from J.D. Vance and Donald Trump.”
A strategically-tailored message that could move the needle with independents, undecideds, and moderate Republicans.
It’s been a disastrous 24 hours for Donald Trump, who just received more grim news
Not only has Trump’s polling flat-lined as Republicans persuade pro-life voters to bail on him, but the latest battleground twist could send his already struggling campaign over the edge:
