Republicans just slashed $880 billion from Medicaid, raised the national debt ceiling by $4 trillion, and funneled $300 billion into border security and military spending — then celebrated it as a win for ‘fiscal responsibility.’

Republicans pass reckless spending budget

At first glance, media headlines will try to convince Americans that Republicans “tackled” the deficit.

But in reality, they’ve just set the stage for the largest tax giveaway to billionaires in history.

And to fund this scheme, they’re gutting healthcare for up to 20 million people

The budget directs the Energy and Commerce Committee to gut $880 billion but conveniently leaves out which programs will be slashed (Medicaid and ACA subsidies are the only programs with room for cuts at that scale).

Unfortunately, if Medicaid expansion under the ACA is rolled back, millions will lose their health coverage. States will be forced to either reduce benefits or kick people off the program entirely.

Plus

This budget paves the way for Republicans to pass $4.5 trillion in tax cuts reserved for six-figure earners, millionaires, billionaires, and beyond — while raising taxes on the rest.

And of course

This budget will explode the national deficit — just like Trump did in his first term.

By the way

Trump’s lofty “no taxes on tips or overtime” is not even included in the bill, even though it’s precisely what he tricked voters into believing he would deliver for them.

Another con.

Newsom launches personal podcast to take over social media

Instead of playing defense against endless MAGA disinformation, Gavin Newsom just started his own podcast where he will speak directly with people he disagrees with, have regular conversations about culture, and answer listener questions about “egg prices, tariffs, and DOGE.”

A simple but smart move

If Democrats want to win elections, they have to compete for attention — because right now, Republicans dominate the online echo chamber.

Newsom better start churning out episodes fast, because…

Jeff Bezos is taking WaPo to the right

Jeff Bezos just announced a major shift at The Washington Post — and it’s not for the betterment of democracy.

Here’s what he posted this morning on X: “I’m writing to let you know about a change coming to our opinion pages. We are going to be writing every day in support and defense of two pillars: personal liberties and free markets.”

Translation: More op-eds defending hate speech disguised as free speech, corporate deregulation, and billionaire tax breaks.

Like I said

Democrats better follow Newsom’s lead and make the shift to new media, because traditional media has either lost its audience, or is pivoting right to appease Trump.

Speaking of Donald Trump, he’s officially hit peak levels of insanity

If you thought Trump’s first month in office was outrageous, his latest policies — unveiled in just the last 24 hours — are straight-up maniacal:
