GOP Plots Government Shutdown, Elon Musk Takes A Scary Turn

As Republicans gut vital programs from the spending bill while plotting to shut down the government for the holidays, the billionaire shadow president engages in his most disturbing act yet

Republicans just demonstrated their cruelty by cutting a children’s cancer research program from the funding agreement currently being debated in Congress, all while pushing for a holiday government shutdown.

Most recently

Republicans removed $190 million for funding a bipartisan child cancer research program, one that was passed in the Obama administration, called the Gabriella Miller Kids First Pediatric Research Program.

Because of course they did

Also removed from the bill is funding for research on premature labor, money for treatment of sickle cell disease, money for breast and cervical cancer early detection, and a program for down syndrome research.

Mind you

They're still going to give tax cuts to billionaires and fund Elon’s space expeditions, but these programs — which were promoting vital health research — are no longer in the proposed agreement.

That is MAGA Republicanism in a nutshell.

And to cap it off

The Trump/Musk-endorsed bill failed on sight, with 38 Republicans voting against it even after those inhumane cuts were made — which means we are facing a government shutdown if a bill is not passed by tonight at midnight.

Not a great start to their co-presidency.
