Canada’s PM Tells Trump To His Face Canada Is Not for Sale
Carney closes the door on Donald’s plan to turn Canada into the 51st state during their first face-to-face meeting
Canada's Prime Minister told Donald Trump directly to his face that Canada is not for sale — and never will be for sale.
So yesterday, the newly elected PM, Mark Carney, was forced to visit the Oval Office to try to talk Trump off the ledge with his tariffs. But when the topic of annexing Canada came up, here’s what Carney said to Trump:
Carney: “As you know from real estate, there are some places that are never for sale. We're sitting in one right now.”
To which Trump laughed and mumbled: “That’s true.”
And then Carney laid it down, saying: “But after having met with the ‘owners’ of Canada over the course of the campaign the last several months, it is not for sale — and won't be for sale, ever.”
Kudos to the PM for showing Trump he can’t be pushed around and for getting Trump to verbally agree to the idea that some things, like Canada, are not for sale.
Well played by Carney — who, by the way, Trump helped elect after tarnishing the conservative brand in Canada.
You love to see it.
Nice to see someone of power just tell it like it is. Had Trump raise his eyebrows and rather nod as if "we'll see." Yeah write - they are not giving in period. I like Carney, he is strong, well versed and just speaks right to the point.
TY. Class act, Canada PM, Mark Carney.
