Canada’s Prime Minister rejected Donald Trump’s renaming of Lake Ontario and schooled him on the history of Lake Ontario—something you know Trump knew nothing about prior to changing its name.
Here’s what PM Mark Carney said in a press statement that has now gone viral, which he released after Trump, the felon, signed that crazy order renaming it “‘Lake America.”
“The name Lake Ontario comes from the Wendat word Ontari’io, which, appropriately, means “the lake is beautiful, the lake is big”. The name is more than 400 years old, predating both the Confederation of Canada and the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America. We know that America is changing. Their trading relationships, their foreign policies, their national monuments, their hydronyms. Canadians also know that naming reality means calling it Lake Ontario – then, now and always.”
Carney basically called Trump disconnected from reality, and reminded Trump that Lake Ontario was there long before America’s founding.
Plus: I bet Trump’s never heard of the word ‘hydronym’ before, either.
Go Canada, go!
Across the board, I’ve been loving the way Canada has fought back against Trump.
Instead of cowering to his trade demands, they walked away from the negotiating table—leaving him without leverage.
Then, they educate him on the history of Lake Ontario, making him look like the fool that he is.
P.S.
Trump’s approval rating is at an all time low. (I’m not one who relies on polls anymore, after they got everything wrong both in 2016 and 2024.) But let’s hope that low approval rating trickles down to Republicans in the midterms and gives Dems a much-needed majority to undo the damage of this corrupt administration; such as repairing our relationship with Canada.
Lake Ontario forever. Happy Friday, guys.

Carney is a leader. An adult grown up man who gives a shit about his country and the people who've elected him. Damn, I can't remember the last time I had that feeling. Oh, now I do. When Joe was in the oval office. He had his flaws for sure...but decency and empathy was his long suit.
I'm thinking Trump might want to rename it after himself -- Lake Asshole
