In the video below, a Fox correspondent asks a voter why he chose to attend Trump’s rally in Rock Hill, South Carolina, clearly expecting him to shower praise for Trump.

Instead, this happened.

”Why are you here this morning?”

“I was a little to young to attend…the Jonestown Massacre. This is as close as I’ll ever get. There’s nothing like seeing a cult right up front.”

I commend this individual named Tom for the level of dedication he put in to this A+ trolling job.

Buying tickets to the rally, tricking Fox into getting interviewed, then looking the camera dead in the eye—and into the homes of every Fox News viewer—to tell them that they belong to a death cult, reminiscent of Jim Jones.

Bravo, Tom.

I hope the fact that Trump is being trolled and heckled at his own rallies in states like Florida, Ohio, and now South Carolina, is a sign that his cult is dwindling in size.

I’m not as confident about the polls, and promised you all I would never post about polls in this column again, given how inaccurate they were in ‘24. Nor do I think the Dems have a “lock” on the midterms, as most pundits and outlets are claiming they do with blind optimism.

However, I do think the economy is just so bleak—with gas prices, grocery prices, the ongoing wars, and crazy inflation—that we will likely see a lower-than-usual voter turnout among Republicans.

Still, you never know with the cult of MAGA. They might show up in droves for Republicans despite their failed policies and broken promises—because that’s what cults do.

Let’s make sure we out-vote the cult with numbers too big to rig.

Make sure you get your fam and friends, and yourself, to the polls.

I’ll be honest.

Part of me left the convention feeling hopeful, another part of me left it feeling doomed.

Bill Clinton

Former President Bill Clinton delivered a speech to kick off the 2-day event. It was fascinating to hear his perspective on things.

To me, he seemed equally as shocked and disturbed at the state of the country as we all are.

He was clearly appalled by the foreign policy decisions being made by the current administration, which he continuously referred to as a ‘retreating government.’

He was distraught by the fact that we’ve isolated ourselves on the world stage by cutting off longtime allies and engaging in “conflict instead of cooperation,” which Clinton, in many words, said was a giant mistake.

Clinton then weighed in on the wealth gap, and asked rhetorically: “Should there be socialism for everyone or socialism only for the wealthy and well connected?”

He also compared AI with that of the nuclear arms race and warned we shouldn’t be competing with China in an AI race to ‘Armageddon.’ Again, he kept stressing cooperation over conflict.

Clinton, later in life, is seeing how detrimental conflict is in the long-run for us as a nation. I’m definitely assuming here, but I bet he’s had a lot of time to reflect, what has all this conflict done for us or for the world at large?

A smart thing he said was: “In order for us to regulate AI, it would mean we’d have to accept AI will decline to accept the restraints we place on it.”

Essentially, to admit that AI needs regulation is to admit the technology is smarter than its creators.

It must be strange for President Bill Clinton, clearly a deep-thinker and someone who believes in giving back, to see a selfish and corrupt man like Donald Trump get into the Oval and sit in the same seat he sat in 30 years ago—merely for the purpose of enriching himself while cutting off our alliances, cutting off aid to countries in need, gutting healthcare, and putting his name on national monuments instead of doing things to help the American people.

All I could think about when listening to Bill Clinton speak was that once upon a time, we had President with intelligence and empathy. Not even saying that in a ‘gotcha’ way to Trump, but Clinton talked about all of the foundations he and Hillary are supporting across the globe to combat climate change, child hunger, disease, promote education, science, etc. Not to mention, Hillary has spent the past decade doing charity and philanthropy despite losing in 2016. (She’s done more public service since 2016 than most public servants in office!)

Can you imagine Donald Trump leading a charity or starting a foundation when his term ends? The question is rhetorical of course. He’d start a charity if he could grift from it or use it to launder money.

Bill Clinton, in closing

Clinton’s message was for all of us to step up our philanthropy, spread our good values, and American principles—or as he said, “fill the gap” left by a “retreating government.”

Felt like I was watching a relic of the past: a president with a brain and a heart who cared about leaving the country in a better place than he found it.

He didn’t need to give that speech or even attend. But he’s still out there, pushing, fighting, speaking. He left me feeling inspired.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Trump is preparing ‘sweeping sanctions’ against the ICC in an effort to ‘dismantle the institution’ after they issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu.

When I read this report, it struck me as to just how little Trump does for America, and how much he does for Netanyahu (suspiciously, I might add).

Think about it

First, Trump goes to war with Iran on Netanyahu’s behalf. (Netanyahu recently boasted about having ‘successfully influenced’ America into finally taking the threat of Iran seriously).

A war that a majority of Americans oppose and a war that has jacked up America’s gas prices, yet, when Americans complain about gas prices, Trump says he outright “doesn’t think about Americans’ financial situations.”

Then

Trump authorizes a $2.8 billion arms-package with highly-destructive bombs to the Israeli Government in the same week the Fed increased interest rates to tame inflation here (oh the irony). Those bombs will be paid for by U.S. taxpayers who are currently struggling to afford groceries.

Now

Trump’s using America’s financial and global power to dismantle an international court simply for issuing an arrest warrant for a foreign war criminal, instead of using his power to bring down costs at home.

I know criminals like to protect one another, but the level of subservience Trump displays towards Netanyahu makes me need to address the elephant in the room:

Last night

Democrat Abdul El-Sayed debated against himself at Michigan’s Senate debate after his MAGA opponent failed to show up.

Here is a photo of El-Sayed standing across from an empty podium, a picture that would normally end a political career.

Yet, the moderator proceeded to ask El-Sayed questions as if it were a regular debate. Asking him about policies! And about ‘controversial’ past statements he’s made!

Instead of zooming out and asking the much, much more pertinent question at hand….such as, “Where the hell is your opponent? Why didn’t he feel it was important to show up to a paid-for debate? What does that say about him as a candidate? Is he incapable of defending his policies? Is he sick? Did he get arrested on the way over here? Do you think your opponent respects Michigan? Do you think your opponent deserves to be a Senator if he can’t show up for a debate?”

I mean, they should have just awarded El-Sayed a trophy at the start and declared him the winner of the debate simply for having the balls to show up.

And they should framed every question around the fact that Rogers wasn’t even there!

They also should have done a follow-up segment investigating why Rogers ducked out of a scheduled debate.

The press in our country, from top to bottom, simply sucks.

Then, there’s Mitch

Mitch McConnell was spotted in public for the first time in 3 months. His staffers wheeled him out of his house, like a corpse, and into a car.

He is technically still alive. But truth be told, dude looks like a vegetable.

Remember: We paid for his healthcare—and his salary—for 3 straight months while he was absent without knowing even if he was alive…even though he voted to cut medicaid and cut paid sick leave for families.

The least we deserve are answers and transparency.

P.S. Outlets like CNN and the New York Times ran wall-to-wall coverage about ‘Biden’s age’ being a problem, yet they didn’t touch a story about Senator McConnell vanishing from the public eye for 90+days without an explanation.

Remember: Jake Tapper wrote a whole book about Biden’s cognitive abilities, even though Biden never missed a day of work. Yet, no book about McConnell, who at this point appears to be brain-dead (but still gladly accepting our tax dollars).

And then, there’s the enigma of Donald Trump

Trump has engaged in so many corrupt and illegal schemes, that, if Biden had done a fraction of any of these, they would’ve make the front page of every outlet and would’ve stayed on the front page for months on end.

He is basically campaigning (on GOP’s behalf) on ending a war that he started (after he promised to be a president who’d end all wars).

Trump said that if Republicans win the midterms, he will cut each American a $5,000 check.

Last time I checked, offering money in exchange for political support is textbook bribery.

Not only is this illegal, but it is also exactly what he promised when campaigning in 2024.

Recall, Trump and Musk vowed to give each American a $5,000 Doge check if Trump won.

Well, he won…and nobody got a check.

He is quite literally running out of scams

First

We learned that Fetterman feigned having food poisoning to blow off a scheduled-meeting with paralyzed military veterans from Pennsylvania—in order to instead make an appearance on Fox News to discuss Israel.

According to the Wall Street Journal, there were three paralyzed military veterans in wheelchairs from Pennsylvania who had a long-awaited meeting on the books with Fetterman to talk about legislation to improve their care.

But then, at the last minute, Fetterman said he could not attend this meeting, telling his staff that he felt sick from eating ‘bad food.’

So his staff took the meeting on his behalf.

Then, less than an hour after the meeting wrapped, Fetterman rolled into his office with ‘no signs of illness’ and told his staff he needed to make it on time for an ‘appointment’; which would end up being an appearance on Fox News to discuss Israel and the war in Iran.

Priorities, priorities.

It gets worse

For context

Over the weekend, Canada suspended trade negotiations with America after Trump acted in bad-faith and tried to make last-minute changes to the terms of their deal.

In a shocking statement, Canadian PM Mark Carney announced that he was officially walking away from the negotiating table with Trump after 18 months of trying to get a fair deal in the works for both countries. Carney said America tried to make “last-minute” changes that he deemed to be “unfair”, “uneconomic”, and “threw into question the reliability” of ever reaching a deal with the US.

Sounds pretty on-brand for Trump.

Then

At the end of Carney’s statement, he wrote that “America has changed", and then went on to talk about how this will actually be good for Canada in the long term, citing how Canada has been creating “4x as many jobs” as America, how their non-US exports are set to “double” in the coming decade, and about how they have been attracting the “most foreign investment” of any G7 country.

It sounded like Carney was truly envisioning a reality in which Canada no longer relies on trade with America…something that should have made Trump realize he had no leverage to pull against the Prime Minister.

But instead of bringing Canada back to the negotiating table like a good President would, Trump dug himself—and America—a deeper hole:
